PRIOR PROJECTS

Pitts S-1-11B, Super Stinker:

This Aviat factory built Pitts S-1-11B Super Stinker was pristinely restored by Bob and his crew at factory service in “2000”.  It’s highly modified Lycon engine sounded like a top fueler when throttled-up.

Fleet:

Dr. Brent Blue’s Fleet came into the shop in tired condition.  A full restoration later he proudly flew it to Oshkosh for all to see.

1966 AH-1P, Cobra:

(Before)

A very old Cobra gutted in preparation for restoration.

(Mid project)

Mid project the Cobra has been completely disassembled, cleaned, inspected and reassembled with fresh primer and preservation on nearly all surfaces.  It received a new electrical and avionics system (Shane’s handiwork), and many mission specific mods for Washington State Department of Natural Resources’ aerial fire fighting program.

(Finished)

WDNR Cobra finished and ready for delivery.  Bitterroot mountains in background.

OH-58, Strange Ranger:

(Before)

This project began as a bare Bell OH-58 (Military Jet Ranger) hull.  We removed the nose section and installed the nose from a Bell 206A Jet Ranger.  This allowed for battery relocation from the aft baggage to the nose section and a commercial instrument panel installation.

(After)

When finished, a team of Bell Helicopter representatives inspected the aircraft and said it was by far the nicest OH-58 they had ever seen.

Pitts, S2B:

This aircraft arrived in the shop in a heap of dirty balled-up parts after an emergency off-field landing.  After complete reconstruction the project owner said it was nicer than any Pitts he had ever seen right off the production line.  We are currently in correspondence with the owner in an effort to retrieve a photo of the heaping pile of parts to add a “before” photo which we hope to have posted soon.

AH-1G, Cobra:

This aircraft was restored by Bob’s team to complete original military configuration right down to the old style block painted stencils.  Armament components were permanently disabled and installed for display purposes only.  It was ordered and delivered to the U.S. Army Aviation Heritage Foundation’s flying museum.  The U.S. AAHF is a flying memorial museum that has been contracted by the DOD as the Army’s aviation official demonstration team.
